I write about the past, present, and future of technology across three sites. imapenguin.com explores retro computing and programming fundamentals, milkcrunch.com covers modern software development and engineering culture, and evadot.com examines commercial spaceflight and the new space movement.

- I heard that Canada is thinking of banning these. I only use mine to play asteroids. Silly Canada. đ
- There are countless places to be an audience member. Just by using my phone, I could be a passive listener for 1000 lifetimes. I'm looking for community and relationships.
- I feel really spoiled on the C64 with TMP. I use Merlin on the Apple II, which is pretty good. Currently trying MAC/65 on the Atari 800. Does anyone have a different Assembler they like better?
- I found what I think is the greatest computer book cover of all time. Please tell me I can find a physical copy of this somewhere
- More Atari BASIC vs Turbo BASIC XL fun with my "standard marginal method" benchmark. I always thought the jiffy clock wasn't available on the Atari, but it lacks a convenient method. It still works fine if you use it directly.
- Stupid races
- Ported my Commodore 64 N-Queens solver to the Atari 800. It's only about 8% slower and was a snap to port.
- Looking for something fun to make with this thing. Suggestions?
- It's been a weird week. Also, Turbo BASIC seems like a required upgrade for the 800XL. Happy Friday.
- Hello darkness, my old friend.
- Too head down?
- Daylight savings is not in the winter!
- Adding another one to my Zaks collection. Love this one.
- Switched to this serial multiplexer by Atlas Scientific for my 6502 cluster communications. This lets me keep everything serial and control it with an 8-bit computer for job scheduling and data aggregation. Happy Friday!
- I got the last Christmas present of the year from my Son today. He had a custom wood map made for me that took months longer than anticipated. Definitely worth the wait.
- My Dad was a mainframe guy from 1974-2007. He was cleaning out a drawer and says âhey, do you want this?â Why yes, yes I do.
- Modern PCB manufacturing has become so easy and convenient. It's basically the same price to get 50 as it is to get 5 boards made. So that means I have 49 spares...
- We have about 12 inches of dead space above our kitchen cabinets. My better half suggested that a train might work up there. There isnât really room to turn one around so something that can run equally well in either direction seemed appropriate. Now to design a bridge to go over the window⌠Iâm not into celebrities, but if pressed I donât have to think hard to come up with my favorite. Any guesses?
- It's a random lunchtime side quest, working to generate a circle with 41 of character 81 on a Commodore 64. Each iteration has been getting smoother. If you have a better way, let me know.
- The first two games I have any memory of playing. They both still stand up today. I didnât intentionally start alphabetically, but it worked out that way.
