I write about the past, present, and future of technology across three sites. imapenguin.com explores retro computing and programming fundamentals, milkcrunch.com covers modern software development and engineering culture, and evadot.com examines commercial spaceflight and the new space movement.

- I’ve had a train under our tree for 20 years. Caleb is moving to Texas right after the holidays so it seemed like a good idea to get him his own so he can start his own traditions. We happen to have two trees this year so…
- Rainbow on the runway this morning
- I do this same walk loop every weekday I work from home. Typically after lunch. It’s 3.26 miles. Just a couple shots from today as the leaves are really starting to turn now.
- I have hunted for and acquired a lot of wonderful vintage technology pieces over the last year. This is easily my favorite of them. I use it every single day. 1962 was a good year for these.
- What the hell? Did they use MT RAM? Another thing I really wish I hadn’t spent money on this year. Arg.
- The amateur mathematician in me has to believe that there’s an excellent chance that I’m the only person on the planet doing #NaNoWriMo21 on a Commodore Plus/4. Living dangerously:)
- Doing some AT backpacking this week. This is what the vertical looks like in the section we'll be on ;-) It's brutal #commodore
- With very little help from me, young guy I'm tutoring in math took this C64 book listing he found and "ported" it to his VIC-20 including sound. Pretty soon he wont need me. Awesome sauce. #commodore
- Well @8BitShowAndTell I finally found my original C64 Pac-Man cartridge. Can confirm it has that same title screen bug. I did find one online that someone fixed. Well at least they fixed the fruit anyway. Put that version on my UltimateII+ #commodore
- A young person asked me to help him port this to the VIC-20 so he can play it. I'm aware of a port already, but if we actually do the port together there's more opportunity to learn so we're gonna do that. #commodore
- Very happy with progress this morning. So good to be back at this. Tail is back on it, closer to being permanently mounted. That skin on the front is going to need a fair amount of trimming next. #myzenith750
- Was making a plaque on the CNC for my “wall of shame” to showcase stuff I’ve screwed up on this plane build. How’s setting the depth incorrectly and slamming the router head into it for irony? Scratch one plaque and expensive bit. Pro Tip: Screwing up is just learning.
- Today is the first of 9 days off in a row for me. Despite the fact that it’s still dark out and 43 degrees (F) inside the hangar, gonna route some fuel and brake lines. #myzenith750
- On a tip from @NoelsRetroLab I found these ROM adapter boards. Picked @PCBWay to manufacture 10 of them to me. I'm still blown away that they can make these and have them at my front door all the way to the US in 6 days. Incredible.
- This morning's "learn something every day" is some polar plotting. R=1+2*COS(Z), pretty neat patterns from this one #commodore #c64
- I love these equation plots. A little lunchtime fun today to relax. This one only took 16 minutes to render, faster than I anticipated. #commodore #c64
- Anyone aware of a scan of this book online? I see some others by him, but not this one. I just copied the Floppy to a disk image. Could scan it easily since it’s spiral bound. #commodore
- Since I was scolded for taking out the Plus/4 yesterday, I figured I might as well fully get in trouble by powering it on and having it do something. #commodore
- Another @8BitShowAndTell book recommendation arrived today. This will be a fun one.
- The road to our house… At some point recently I had realized I have everything I dreamed about 15 years ago. I wonder what our next adventure will be.
